Masaaki Kurumaya
The original teacher of Mugenkyo, Masaaki Kurumaya Sensei has on several occasions performed both in Japan & the UK with Mugenkyo. In 1998 & 1999 he toured extensively with us, astounding audiences with his powerful ki energy. One of the original founders in the 70s of the present-day taiko boom, Kurumaya is one of the most respected players in the world today. Now in his 60s, Kurumaya occasionally performs at one-off events & teaches at his Kurumaya Dojo based in the beautiful mountains of Miyama just outside Fukui City.
As the 20th anniversary of Mugenkyo founders Neil Mackie & Miyuki Williams draws closer, we hope to welcome Kurumaya Sensei back to these shores for some special events.
